Raina Goran

ELECTED ARWS 2024

After graduating with a degree in Illustration from Wimbledon School of Art in 1985, Raina's early career began as a Greeting Card Editor and then Creative Director at Athena International. She has since worked in art education and been a full time professional artist since 2013. Raina works from her home studio in London, working in collage and acrylics to record the city.

Raina's distinct acrylic, collage style has grown organically through years of experimentation and exploration. She hand paints sheets of paper using acrylic paint and inks, then cuts and tears them into shapes which she positions to form semi abstract cityscapes.

Raina says that the heart of her practice is a love for exploring warm and cool colours, shapes and pattern; repositioning the pieces until she finds pleasing rhythms that direct the viewer through her composition.

Raina is a regular exhibitor at open exhibitions, most recently at the Royal Watercolour Society, New English Art Club, Chelsea Art Society, Society of Women Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. Raina won the RWS, David Gluck Memorial Prize in 2022 and the Chelsea Art Society, Cuthbert Mill Paper Prize in 2024.
