Katherine Jones

ELECTED RWS 2024

Katherine Jones is a contemporary British Artist brought up in Herefordshire and now based in London. Inspiration is drawn from everyday experience, literary, folkloric and visual sources including writers such as Janet Frame and Lydia Davis and Slavic witch Baba Yaga. Works conclude in unexpected ways through the interplay of research and process. Jones’s practice has its roots in watercolour and is underpinned by habitual drawing and painting. She uses multiple printmaking techniques to produce painterly, ambiguous images that are both expansive and domestic in tone.

Jones is currently a visiting lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking at universities and colleges across the United Kingdom and Europe. She was elected as a Royal Academician in 2022. Public collections include the V&A Prints And Drawings Collection, The Ashmolean Museum, Yale University Library and The House Of Lords.
